2. Application
  In general, graduate schools in Japan announce their application procedures from June to August every year.
  The necessary documents are as follows.
1.  Application form
2. Certificate of personal data from undergraduate university
3. Certificate of undergraduate course graduation (or anticipated graduation)
4. Certificate of master's degree (or anticipated degree) for doctor's course
5. Certificate of results of last school attended
6. Letter of recommendation from the principal, head of department or lecturer of undergraduate university
7. Thesis at undergraduate university and its summary
8. Medical certificate
9. Photographs
10.  Certificate of Alien Registration (if the applicant is residing in Japan)
11. (Guarantor-related documents)

  Application deadlines, procedures, method and documents differ from school to school, and department to departmant, so you will have to check directly with the school you wish to attend for specific details. The earliest deadlines are in August of the previous year. When applying from overseas, take note of the time needed for postal mail delivery so that you meet the deadline.

  The Information Center maintains a list of graduate schools that accept applications from overseas. Inquire to the center for further information.
