Penang’s most anticipated Japanese cultural festival is back this year with exciting games, mouth watering Japanese food, exotic performances and more which was held on 25 July 2015 from 6.00pm to 11.00pm at the Esplanade Penang. Bon Odori, a traditional and merry Japanese festival that is celebrated with dance and lively drum performances to welcome the homecoming of ancestral spirits. This festival is a Japanese Buddhist observance that honours the spirit of ancestors, who return once a year to visit their families. The carnival-like atmosphere at Esplanade is made ever merrier with stalls selling a variety of local and Japanese food, firework displays, Japanese souvenirs, lively performances and games. Visitors enjoy trying the Japanese traditional costumes and take photos with Cosplayers. Three groups specially imported from Japan performed during the night. First dance will be a Ryuku Traditional Dance followed by YOSAKOI and Soranbushi.
Miss Yukata Competition this year. The champion was rewarded with RM1,000. The second prize winner RM500 while the third-placed contestant received RM300.
Additional excitement for this year was the Lucky Draw contest comprises of fabulous prizes such as 2 air tickets to Phuket, 2 Days 1 Night vouchers (2) at Bayview Hotel Georgetown Penang, one branded smartphone and many more.

Overall the result of 9th Drawing Contest is satisfactory with total of 86 participants (From Penang Japanese School 32 persons and local schools 54 persons) on actual day. Through this activity we could bring closer relationship to create harmonious relationship between local and Japanese in order to achieve our objectives goal through this kind of arrangement.
